Setup — Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Roland TD-25

Works

Yes — the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works as a full hi-hat on the Roland TD-25: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake + 1× TRS → HHC connector on the DB-25 cable snake

Continuous hi-hat control via the cable snake.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HHC connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. In the KIT screen, press [F3] (MENU), then [F3] (SETUP) to open the SETUP screen.
  2. Select "Trigger Settings", strike/select the HI-HAT input, and use the [INSTRUMENT] knob to set the Pad type to VH-11.
  3. Select "Hi-Hat Settings" and adjust the offset with the hi-hat's offset screw while reading the on-screen meter.

Tips

  1. Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.
  2. Calibrate the hi-hat offset after connecting for accurate pedal response.
