11" Hi-Hat Controller on Roland TD-6

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Hi-Hat Controller when used with the Roland TD-6.

Setup — 11" Hi-Hat Controller on Roland TD-6

Works

The 11" Hi-Hat Controller is fully supported on your Roland TD-6.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT input (TRIGGER INPUT 3) on the rear panel + 1× TRS → HH CTRL input on the rear panel

Continuous hi-hat control via the HH CTRL jack. The TD-6 supports the FD-7 and FD-6 hi-hat control pedals and provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT input on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HH CTRL input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Hold [SHIFT] and press [EDIT (SETUP)] to enter setup mode, then select TRIG BASIC.
  2. Strike the hi-hat pad so the display shows the HH input.
  3. Set the Trigger Type to CY6 or a similar 2-zone cymbal preset.

Tips

  1. Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions, including foot splashes.
  2. Calibrate the pedal at its rest position when powering on — do not press the pedal until the [KIT] lamp has lit.
11" Hi-Hat Controller also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
