11" Hi-Hat Controller on Donner Beat Max

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Hi-Hat Controller when used with the Donner Beat Max.

Setup — 11" Hi-Hat Controller on Donner Beat Max

Works

The 11" Hi-Hat Controller is fully supported on your Donner Beat Max.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad + pedal controller → Hi-Hat jacks on the Donner rack (1/4" TRS)

The Beat Max supports continuous pedal control with a 2-zone hi-hat pad (tip and edge). Eight distinct hi-hat positions are detected across the two pad zones and the full pedal travel range.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the Lemon hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat pad jack on the Donner rack via 1/4" TRS cable.
  2. Connect the hi-hat pedal controller to the Hi-Hat pedal jack on the rack.

Module settings

  1. On the touchscreen: open DRUM KIT → tap the Hi-Hat column → tap Instrument → EDITOR tab.
  2. Adjust Pad Sensitivity and Threshold for the pad; set Rim Sensitivity for edge zone response.
  3. If the module prompts for hi-hat pedal calibration (SYSTEM menu), follow the on-screen steps with the pedal fully open then fully closed.

Tips

  1. Hi-hat MIDI notes: closed tip = 42, closed edge = 22, half-open tip = 12, half-open edge = 64, open tip = 14, open edge = 46, pedal close = 44, pedal splash = 23.
  2. Bluetooth audio (SYSTEM > BLUETOOTH) lets you stream backing tracks wirelessly while practicing — AUX IN and Bluetooth audio are mutually exclusive when both are connected.
11" Hi-Hat Controller also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
