Yes — the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works as a full hi-hat on the Roland TD-30: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT input on the rear panel + 1× TRS → HH CTRL input on the rear panel

Continuous hi-hat control. Supports VH-13, VH-12, and VH-11 pad types.

Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT input on the rear panel.
Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HH CTRL input on the rear panel.

Press the [TRIGGER] button.
Press the [F3] (HI-HAT) button to open the TRIGGER HI-HAT screen.
Use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to set the trigger type to VH-13, VH-12, or VH-11.
Press the [F4] (OFFSET) button to open the VH OFFSET ADJUSTMENT screen.
Loosen the clutch so the top hi-hat rests on the sensor, then press [F5] (EXECUTE) to set the VH Offset.

Calibrate the VH offset: loosen the clutch, let the hi-hat rest on the motion sensor, and adjust the offset screw until the on-screen indicator is centered.
Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.
