11" Hi-Hat Controller on Alesis Strata Prime

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Hi-Hat Controller when used with the Alesis Strata Prime.

Setup — 11" Hi-Hat Controller on Alesis Strata Prime

Works

The 11" Hi-Hat Controller is fully supported on your Alesis Strata Prime.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat trigger input + the hi-hat controller on the stand

Variable hi-hat is fully supported — the magnetic controller mounts under the cymbal and tracks the pedal's relative position continuously, so open, half-open, closed, chick, and splash articulations all play. The Hi-Hat slot also reads Bow, Edge, and Bell zones.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat trigger input on the rear panel.
  2. Mount the hi-hat controller under the cymbal on the hi-hat stand so it tracks the pedal travel.

Module settings

  1. Open Trigger Edit Mode, tap HH Setup, and run the calibration: loosen the clutch, let the cymbal rest, tap SET, then raise to playing height and press FINISH.
  2. Fine-tune Pedal Bottom so open sounds transition to closed at the position you want, and where chick/splash start.
  3. Adjust Chick Gain, Splash Sensitivity, and Splash Gain for the foot-technique response you prefer.

Tips

  1. Pedal Bottom is the key playability control — higher makes chick/splash more sensitive, lower makes open/closed patterns more realistic.
  2. Pedal Top generally needs no change after calibration; it sets where the fully open sound plays.
  3. Re-run HH Setup if you change the cymbal height so the variable response tracks the full pedal travel.
  4. Do not set the cymbal too high above the controller piston, or position tracking suffers.
11" Hi-Hat Controller also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
