Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Millenium MPS-1000

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor when used with the Millenium MPS-1000.

Setup — Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Millenium MPS-1000

Use as switch hi-hat

The Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works on the Millenium MPS-1000 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: Hi-hat plug → hi-hat pad + hi-hat-control plug → hi-hat controller, both on the multiple cable

The multiple cable carries a separate hi-hat-control plug, so the Lemon controller connects. That input was built for Millenium's own CH-13 hi-hat, whose position sensor sits inside the top pad; the Lemon controller is a separate plate under the pad — the layout Millenium itself switched to for its Roland-compatible CH-13X. Open and closed are expected; half-open and foot splash are not.

Hi-hat setup and troubleshooting guide ›

Cable routing

  1. Plug the multiple cable's labelled hi-hat plug into the Lemon hi-hat pad's 1/4" TRS jack.
  2. Plug the multiple cable's hi-hat-control plug — the one that went to the HH-CTRL jack on the stock hi-hat — into the Lemon hi-hat controller.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], select 'ADVANCE' and press [ENTER], then hit the hi-hat to select it; set 'SENSITIVITY', 'HEADROOM' and 'PEAK DECAY'.
  2. Select the pedal chick trigger and open 'CALIBRATION' with [ENTER]: press the pedal to the floor and press [–], then release the pedal slowly and press [+]. Press [EXIT] to leave.
  3. Press [EXIT] and then [ENTER] to save the setup.

Tips

  1. Hi-hat MIDI notes: open = 46, closed = 42, pedal chick = 44 — the module's own map also has half-open (23) and splash (21), which are not expected from the Lemon controller.
Hi-Hat Controller Sensor also fits 71 other drum modules — see setup
