Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Roland TD-10

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor when used with the Roland TD-10.

Setup — Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Roland TD-10

Works

Yes — the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works as a full hi-hat on the Roland TD-10: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT input on the rear panel + 1× TRS → HH CTRL input on the rear panel

Continuous hi-hat control with full pedal expression.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT input on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HH CTRL input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], then press [F1 (TRIG)], and then press [F1 (BANK)].
  2. Navigate to the HI-HAT input.
  3. Set the pad type to match your hi-hat controller.

Tips

  1. Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.
  2. After turning on the power, do not press the hi-hat control pedal until the drum kit name appears in the display — otherwise open/close operations cannot be performed correctly.
Hi-Hat Controller Sensor also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
