Works

The 11" Hi-Hat Controller is fully supported on your Roland TD-17.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake + 1× TRS → HI-HAT CTRL connector on the DB-25 cable snake

Continuous hi-hat control. Supports VH-10, VH-11, FD-8, and FD-9 pedal types.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HI-HAT CTRL connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP] > Pad Settings > [F1] TYPE.
  2. Navigate to the HI-HAT input.
  3. Set the pad type to VH-10 or VH-11.

Tips

  1. Calibrate the hi-hat offset after connecting for accurate pedal response.
  2. Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.
