Yes — the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works as a full hi-hat on the Roland TD-17: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake + 1× TRS → HHC connector on the DB-25 cable snake

Continuous hi-hat control. Supports VH-10 and VH-11 pad types.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HHC connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], turn the dial to select "Hi-Hat Settings", then press [ENTER].
  2. Turn the dial to set Pad Type to VH10 or VH11.
  3. Adjust the VH offset with the hi-hat's offset screw while reading the on-screen meter.

Tips

  1. Calibrate the hi-hat offset after connecting for accurate pedal response.
  2. Continuous pedal control provides smooth open-to-closed transitions.
