Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Pearl Mimic Pro

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor when used with the Pearl Mimic Pro.

Setup — Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Pearl Mimic Pro

Works

Yes — the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works as a full hi-hat on the Pearl Mimic Pro: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad → Hi-Hat input + 1× TRS pedal → HH Controller input (1/4" TRS jacks)

Continuous hi-hat control is supported via the Hi-Hat pad input and the dedicated HH Controller input, calibrated with the module's HH Pos meter and Hi-Hat Control Curve.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat input.
  2. Connect the pedal controller to the HH Controller jack.

Module settings

  1. Select the preset for your hi-hat pad, then select the Hi-Hat in the trigger-instrument window.
  2. Open the TRIGGER → HH Control → HH Pos tab. With the hi-hat fully open (no pressure on the controller), set Input Gain per the on-screen text.
  3. Use the Capture Close/Open Position function to dial in the fully-closed and fully-open controller positions (or set Extra Tight Closed / Max Open manually).
  4. Fine-tune the Hi-Hat Control Curve to taste between the Extra Tight Closed, Max Open, and Close/Open Border points.

Tips

  1. The hi-hat control cable must be a 1/4" TRS cable, not a 1/4" TS (mono) cable. Many third-party wiring harnesses are not TRS, and without a TRS control cable the hi-hat will not work.
Hi-Hat Controller Sensor also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
