11" Hi-Hat Controller on Roland TD-1

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Hi-Hat Controller when used with the Roland TD-1.

Setup — 11" Hi-Hat Controller on Roland TD-1

Use as switch hi-hat

The 11" Hi-Hat Controller works on your Roland TD-1 with reduced zones.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS → HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake + 1× TRS → HI-HAT CTRL connector on the DB-25 cable snake

Switch-type hi-hat pedal control. The TD-1 distinguishes open, closed, and foot-closed states only — fine half-open and splash articulations are not reproduced like higher-tier Roland modules.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller pedal to the HI-HAT CTRL connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. The TD-1 has limited menu settings for trigger configuration — no continuous pedal calibration is exposed.

Tips

  1. The TD-1 reliably detects open and closed pedal states; finer articulations are limited by the module's simplified hi-hat engine.
  2. For best results, ensure the pedal is set to its rest position when powering on the module.
11" Hi-Hat Controller also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
