Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Alesis DM7X

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor when used with the Alesis DM7X.

The Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works on the Alesis DM7X as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat connector on the cable snake + 1× TRS (pedal) → the hi-hat pedal lead on the cable snake

Basic open/closed operation.

Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat connector on the cable snake.
Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pedal controller to the hi-hat pedal lead on the cable snake.

Hit the hi-hat pad, or press its Pad Select button, so the module selects that input.
Press Utility, then press Page/Select until SEN (Pad sensitivity) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
Press Page/Select until THR (Pad threshold) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
Press Page/Select until S-S (Hi-Hat "splash" sensitivity) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
Press Save to keep the settings — otherwise they return to defaults when you power the module off.

Pedal response is basic — expect open and closed states with limited gradation between them.
Half-open and splash articulations may not trigger reliably on this entry-level module.
