Hi-Hat Controller Sensor on Alesis Nitro

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the Hi-Hat Controller Sensor when used with the Alesis Nitro.

The Hi-Hat Controller Sensor works on the Alesis Nitro as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat connector on the 25-pin cable snake + 1× TRS (controller) → the hi-hat pedal lead on the cable snake

The HH Pedal input is not documented as Roland VH/FD compatible, and there is no pedal curve or half-open voice — treat as open/closed.

Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat connector on the 25-pin cable snake.
Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller to the hi-hat pedal lead on the cable snake.

Hit the hi-hat pad, or press its Pad Select button, so the module selects that input.
Press Utility, then press Page/Select until the setting you want appears: SEN (Pad sensitivity) or THR (Pad threshold).
Set the value with the < and > buttons.
Press Save to keep the settings — otherwise they return to defaults when you power the module off.

No pedal curve options are available — the module uses a fixed pedal response.
Hi-hat voice selection is limited to H-C 001–007.
Open/closed transitions may feel less nuanced than modules with pedal curve tuning.
