14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Donner Beat Max

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Donner Beat Max.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Donner Beat Max

Use with the kit's pedal controller

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Donner Beat Max as a continuous hi-hat driven by the kit's own pedal controller: open, half-open and closed positions.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: The Beat Max has no per-pad 1/4" trigger jacks — every pad, and the hi-hat control, connects through the stand's built-in snake to a single "Module data base socket". The kit's own stand-mounted hi-hat control is retained; the Lemon hi-hat pad rides on top.

The Beat Max reads pedal position from its own stand-mounted hi-hat control — open, half-open, and closed all trigger — with a 2-zone hi-hat pad (tip and edge).

Cable routing

  1. The Donner Beat Max module has no individual 1/4" pad-trigger jacks. Every pad — and the hi-hat control — connects through the drum stand's built-in snake, which terminates in a single multi-pin "Module data base socket" on the module.
  2. Keep the kit's own stand-mounted hi-hat control in place and ride the Lemon hi-hat pad on top; the Lemon controller has no jack to connect to.

Module settings

  1. From the main interface, tap EDITOR.
  2. With CHASE ON (default), strike the hi-hat pad to select it — or turn CHASE OFF and pick it from the drum drop-down.
  3. Adjust Pad Sensitivity and Threshold for the pad; set Rim Sensitivity for edge zone response.

Tips

  1. Hi-hat MIDI notes: closed tip = 42, closed edge = 22, half-open tip = 12, half-open edge = 64, open tip = 14, open edge = 46, pedal close = 44, pedal splash = 23.
  2. Bluetooth audio (SYSTEM > BLUETOOTH) lets you stream backing tracks wirelessly while practicing — AUX IN and Bluetooth audio are mutually exclusive when both are connected.
14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
