T550 12" Snare on Yamaha DTX-PRO

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Yamaha DTX-PRO.

Setup — T550 12" Snare on Yamaha DTX-PRO

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Snare works as a full snare on the Yamaha DTX-PRO: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNARE input (1/4" TRS jack)

Dual-zone snare triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. The DTX-PRO's [SNARE] jack supports multi-piezo pads, so a Lemon dual-piezo snare (head piezo + rim piezo) reads both zones — set the snare Pad Type to a Multi Piezo type so rim shots register.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. After connecting the pad, set the Pad Type parameter (MENU/TRIGGER/Pad Type) to a Multi Piezo type that matches your snare so the head and rim piezos are read as separate zones.
  2. Fine-tune Gain and Sensitivity so soft and hard hits register cleanly — see the DTX-PRO Reference Manual (PDF) for the full trigger parameter list.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T550 12" Snare also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
