T550 12" Snare on Donner DED-500

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Donner DED-500.

Setup — T550 12" Snare on Donner DED-500

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Snare works as a full snare on the Donner DED-500: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNARE lead on the DB25 signal-connection harness

The DED-500 snare channel is dual-zone — head, rim, and cross-stick are separate articulations (the kit carries Snare-Classic, Snare-Classic_Rim, and Snare-Classic_CS voices, and an X-Stick toggle enables the cross-stick). Pads connect through the signal-connection harness, which ends in a multi-pin DB25 connector on the module's "Data In" port.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE lead on the module's supplied signal-connection harness. The harness ends in a multi-pin DB25 connector that plugs into the module's "Data In" port — the DED-500 has no individual per-pad rear-panel jacks; only the TOM4 and CRASH2 expansion inputs are discrete 1/4" jacks.

Module settings

  1. On the main interface, select OFF/X-S and press [ENTER] until it reads X-S — this enables the snare cross-stick.
  2. Press [MENU] to open the setting interface, select TRIG and press [ENTER], then use the [◀]/[▶] buttons to select the Snare pad.
  3. Adjust Sensibility, Threshold, and Curve for the head, then use Rim Gain (rim/edge sensitivity), Head Rim, and Xstick Adj (cross-stick strength) to balance the rim and cross-stick response.

Tips

  1. The snare reads head + rim: the module carries Snare-Classic (head), Snare-Classic_Rim, and Snare-Classic_CS (cross-stick) voices.
  2. Raise Rim Gain if rim/cross-stick hits under-trigger; lower Head Rim if hard head hits bleed into the rim sound.
T550 12" Snare also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
