T550 12" Snare on Simmons SD2000

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Simmons SD2000.

Setup — T550 12" Snare on Simmons SD2000

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Snare works as a full snare on the Simmons SD2000: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → the SNARE lead of the multi-pin cable harness

The snare input supports dual-zone (head + rim) triggering via the center piezo and the rim piezo.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE lead of the multi-pin cable harness — the leads are marked with the pad each one goes to. The harness ends in a multi-pin connector that plugs into the Serial Connection Jack on the bottom of the module; apart from the side-panel Tom 4 and Crash 2 jacks, every pad reaches the SD2000 through the harness.

Module settings

  1. Press [Utility], then the Function soft-key under "Trigger" on the Main Utility screen.
  2. Select the Snare input (Follow Trigger — strike it — or Current Trigger).
  3. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, Crosstalk, Splash Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T550 12" Snare also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
