T550 12" Snare on Roland SPD-SX

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Roland SPD-SX.

The T550 12" Snare is fully supported on your Roland SPD-SX.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → a TRIG IN jack (1/2 or 3/4) set to INPUT MODE HEAD&RIM — head + rim

The SPD-SX is a sampling pad with two rear-panel TRIG IN jacks (1/2 and 3/4), each a stereo 1/4" TRS input. Set a jack's INPUT MODE to HEAD&RIM and a single TRS cable carries both zones — head and rim trigger independently. The pad plays whatever waves you assign to that trigger input in the kit. Only two jacks exist, so a 2-zone pad uses up one whole jack.

Cable routing

Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon snare pad to a free TRIG IN jack (1/2 or 3/4) on the rear panel.

Module settings

Press [MENU] > SETUP > TRIG IN.
Select the trigger input you used and set INPUT MODE to HEAD&RIM so head and rim are read separately.
Set TRIG TYPE to a 2-zone snare/pad profile such as PD-125 or PD-105 as a starting point, then fine-tune PAD SENS, THRESHOLD and the trigger curve.
In the KIT PAD screen, assign a snare wave to the trigger's head and a rimshot/sidestick wave to its rim.

Tips

Head triggers on the tip, rim on the ring of the same TRS cable.
Raise XTALK CANCEL if a nearby pad on the same stand triggers the snare unintentionally.
