T550 12" Snare on Roland TD-1

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Roland TD-1.

Setup — T550 12" Snare on Roland TD-1

Works

The T550 12" Snare is fully supported on your Roland TD-1.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNARE connector on the DB-25 cable snake

Dual-zone snare triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Set the Snare pad type to S2 (PDX-8/PDX-6) to enable rim sounds on a Lemon mesh snare.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Long-press the metronome button to enter detailed settings, then press [Select] to blink the Tempo lamp (Change Pad Type).
  2. Strike the snare pad so the display shows the snare setting, then use [-] [+] to set the snare pad type to S2 (PDX-8 / PDX-6).
  3. Press the metronome button to confirm.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
  3. If the snare pad type is left at S1 (TD-1K default), rim hits will not produce a separate sound.
T550 12" Snare also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
