Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Snare when used with the Roland TD-8.

Yes — the T550 12" Snare works as a full snare on the Roland TD-8: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNARE input (1/4" TRS jack)

Dual-zone triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. The module's snare input reads both piezo (head) and rim switch/piezo signals.

Cable routing

Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE input on the rear panel.

Module settings

Press [SETUP], then [F1 (TRIG)] — the "TRIGGER BANK" screen appears.
Navigate to the SNARE input.
Set the trigger type to 8RA (for a PD-80R) or 12A (for a PD-120) — the mesh dual-zone settings with strike-position detection.

Tips

Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
