Setup — 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis DM10
Use as switch hi-hatThe 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Alesis DM10 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat input + 1× TRS (controller) → Hi-Hat Control input
Alesis's own DM10 compatibility guide lists the Roland VH-11 — the controller convention a Lemon hi-hat follows — as compatible, with one stated limitation: it cannot trigger heel splash. Treat hi-hat as open/closed, and run the module's own pedal calibration below after connecting.
Cable routing
- Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat input on the rear panel.
- Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat controller to the Hi-Hat Control input on the rear panel.
Module settings
- Press EXT TRIG to enter the Ext. Trig Menu, then set the Input field to HiHat.
- Set the InputType as appropriate.
- On the INP page, set Sensitvty (00-99) so your hardest hi-hat strike drives the level meter close to maximum without clipping; press TRIG (F2) and set Threshold (00-99) on that page.
- With the hi-hat controller connected and the pedal not pressed down, calibrate it: press CAL (F4), then with the pedal fully raised press CAL OPEN (F1 or F2), and with it fully pressed press CAL CLSED (F3 or F4), waiting for each step to confirm complete.
- Press STORE, then YES (F1), to keep the settings — Ext. Trig changes return to their defaults when you power the module off.
Tips
- The Hi-Hat Control input is a separate dedicated jack — do not confuse it with the Hi-Hat pad input.
- This module does not support keyboard-style expression pedals for hi-hat control.
- Calibrate with the pedal at its true extremes — a mis-captured end point is the usual cause of a hi-hat that never reads fully closed.
