12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Nitro Max

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Alesis Nitro Max.

Setup — 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Nitro Max

Reduced — switch (open/closed)

The 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on your Alesis Nitro Max with reduced zones.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat connector on the 25-pin cable snake + 1× TRS (pedal) → HH Pedal connector on the 25-pin cable snake

Shares the Nitro-family hi-hat architecture. Although the Nitro Max exposes a half-open sample, the pedal input is not documented as Roland VH/FD compatible — treat as open/closed.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat connector on the 25-pin cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pedal controller to the HH Pedal connector on the 25-pin cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Go to Utility → Trigger. Navigate to the Hi-Hat input.
  2. Adjust SEN (Sensitivity), THR (Threshold), and S-S (Splash Sensitivity).

Tips

  1. Half-open articulation is supported, which is an improvement over the original Nitro.
  2. No pedal curve options are available — the module uses a fixed pedal response.
  3. Continuous pedal resolution is limited compared to modules with dedicated pedal curve tuning.
