12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Simmons Titan 75

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Simmons Titan 75.

Setup — 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Simmons Titan 75

Use as switch hi-hat

The 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Simmons Titan 75 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad + 1× mono TS (controller) → the "To Hi-Hat" and "To Hi-Hat Control" branches of the multi-pin cable harness

The Lemon hi-hat pad and controller connect through the multi-pin cable harness and deliver open and closed hi-hat.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the hi-hat pad to the "To Hi-Hat" branch of the harness and the hi-hat controller to the "To Hi-Hat Control" branch (the plug labeled "HH Pedal").

Module settings

  1. Press the SETUP button — the first screen is Hi-Hat; leave it on "Hi-Hat: Pedal" so the hi-hat controller drives open/closed ("Hi-Hat: Mid" and "Hi-Hat: Cl" fix the sound for double-kick-pedal use), then strike the hi-hat pad to select it — use the LEDs to the right side of the display to see which pad is selected for editing.
  2. With your foot off the pedal, set the resting gap at the clutch: loosen the clutch, raise the top cymbal on the controller until the released sound is as open as it gets, then tighten it — the clutch is the only control.
  3. Press the pedal to confirm it still reaches the closed sound; if it doesn't, lower the cymbal slightly and set the gap again.
  4. Press SETUP repeatedly to step through Sens, Retrigger, Threshold, Curve, and X-Talk for that input.

Tips

  1. Set the resting gap at the clutch before judging the hi-hat — with the cymbal sitting too low on the controller, the released position can sound half-open rather than fully open.
  2. Stock hi-hat cymbal pads are single-zone.
12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 70 other drum modules — see setup
