Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Simmons SD1200.

Setup — 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Simmons SD1200

Use as switch hi-hat

The 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Simmons SD1200 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: HH lead → hi-hat pad + HH PEDAL lead → hi-hat controller, both on the multi-pin cable harness

The Lemon hi-hat pad and controller connect through the multi-pin cable harness and deliver open and closed hi-hat.

Cable routing

  1. Plug the HH lead of the multi-pin cable harness into the hi-hat pad and the HH PEDAL lead into the hi-hat controller.

Module settings

  1. With your foot off the pedal, set the resting gap at the clutch: loosen the clutch, raise the top cymbal on the controller until the released sound is as open as it gets, then tighten it — the clutch is the only control.
  2. Press the pedal to confirm it still reaches the closed sound; if it doesn't, lower the cymbal slightly and set the gap again.
  3. Utility > Trigger > select Hi-Hat > adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, Crosstalk.

Tips

  1. Set the resting gap at the clutch before judging the hi-hat — with the cymbal sitting too low on the controller, the released position can sound half-open rather than fully open.
12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 71 other drum modules — see setup
