14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis DM10

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Alesis DM10.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis DM10

Use as switch hi-hat

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Alesis DM10 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat input + 1× TRS (pedal) → Hi-Hat Control input

The Lemon pedal uses the Roland VH/FD convention, which Alesis doesn't document for continuous CV here — so with the Lemon pedal, treat hi-hat as open/closed.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat input on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pedal controller to the Hi-Hat Control input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press EXT TRIG to enter the Ext. Trig Menu, then set the Input field to HiHat.
  2. Set the InputType as appropriate.
  3. Adjust Sensitivity and Threshold for the pad.
  4. Calibrate the pedal: press CAL (F4), then with the pedal fully raised press CAL OPEN, and with it fully pressed press CAL CLSED, waiting for each step to confirm complete.
  5. Store your trigger settings so the calibration is retained after power-off.

Tips

  1. The Hi-Hat Control input is a separate dedicated jack — do not confuse it with the Hi-Hat pad input.
  2. This module does not support keyboard-style expression pedals for hi-hat control.
  3. Test the full pedal sweep to confirm smooth open-to-closed transitions.
14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
