The DTX700 has a dedicated [HI-HAT CONTROL] jack (p.12; specification [HI HAT CONTROL], p.57) and documents graded closing — a firmer press in the closed position for a tighter sound, plus a foot-splash (p.23). With the Lemon controller this module delivers open/closed hi-hat.
Cable routing
- Connect the hi-hat pad to the [HI-HAT] input.
- Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the hi-hat controller to the [HI-HAT CONTROL] jack.
Module settings
- Strike the hi-hat pad, then press the [MENU] button, turn the dial to select Trigger, and press the dial.
- Turn the dial to select Pad, then press the dial — the [HI-HAT] input is selected.
- Move the cursor to the PadType row and set it to RHH135 — the entry for a real hi-hat pad that brings its own controller to the [HI-HAT CONTROL] jack (Owner's Manual p.12; the Reference Manual prints the full list at p.46).
- Set Gain (1–64) on the same Pad Type page (p.46), adjust MinLevel (Minimum Level, 0%–99%) and RejectTime (4ms–500ms) for a clean response (pp.46–47).
- Press the [STORE] button to store the setting — if a confirmation message appears, press the dial to proceed.
- If closed hi-hat sounds are hard to get, lower FootClosePos (Foot Closed Position, -32 to +0 to +32) on the Menu area's Utility/Pad page (Reference Manual pp.40, 65).
Tips
- The Lemon hi-hat controller triggers open/closed states via the [HI-HAT CONTROL] jack.
- You get clean open and closed hi-hat; graded half-open and foot-splash articulations are not delivered here.
