12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on ATV aD5

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the ATV aD5.

Setup — 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on ATV aD5

Works

Yes — the 12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works as a full hi-hat on the ATV aD5: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad → HH plug + 1× TRS pedal → CTL plug on the included multi-trigger cable

Full continuous hi-hat control. The aD5 has a dedicated hi-hat-control-pedal input on its multi-trigger breakout — the pad goes to the HH plug and the controller to the CTL plug (p.30). A third-party hi-hat pedal selector ([Pad Brand]/[Model], p.32) plus open/close calibration ([Set Close]/[Set Open], p.35 — [Set Open] appears only for a non-ATV hi-hat) let the Lemon bottom-plate controller read open, half-open and closed.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the hi-hat pad to the HH plug on the included multi-trigger cable.
  2. Connect the pedal controller to the CTL plug on the multi-trigger cable.

Module settings

  1. Select the hi-hat's [Pad Brand] and then [Model] in the trigger menu (p.32).
  2. Advance the pedal to the closed position and press [Set Close], then remove your foot and press [Set Open] (p.35 — [Set Open] appears only when a third-party hi-hat is selected).
  3. Press [Pedal HH Sens] to adjust the foot-close and foot-splash volume (p.35).

Tips

  1. Full variable continuous pedal control is supported (open, half-open, closed).
  2. For a non-ATV hi-hat, run [Set Open] as well as [Set Close] (p.35) — with ATV's own hi-hat the open point is set automatically.
12" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
