T550 12" Kick on Yamaha DTX700

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Kick when used with the Yamaha DTX700.

Setup — T550 12" Kick on Yamaha DTX700

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Kick works as a full kick on the Yamaha DTX700: single zone.

Trigger

Wiring: 1× TS → KICK input (paired 1/4" jack)

Single-zone kick trigger. Only the head zone is active.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TS cable from the kick pad to the KICK input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [MENU] button, turn the dial to select Trigger, then press the dial.
  2. Turn the dial to select Pad, then press the dial; strike the kick so the KICK input is selected.
  3. Move the cursor to the PadType row and set the entry that matches your pad — the Reference Manual prints KP125W/125 and KP65 (p.46).
  4. Set Gain (1–64) on the same Pad Type page so beater strikes register at full velocity (p.46).
  5. Raise MinLevel (Minimum Level, 0%–99%) and adjust RejectTime (4ms–500ms) to reject pedal-board noise and double triggers.
  6. Press the [STORE] button to store the setting — if a confirmation message appears, press the dial to proceed.

Tips

  1. Single-zone operation — only the head zone is active.
  2. The KICK jack is a paired input — Yamaha uses its second half for another mono-type pad, through the input jack on a KP65's rear surface or a Y-shaped cable (Owner's Manual p.12). Use a TS cable for a single-zone Lemon kick: it grounds that unused second half, where a TRS cable would leave it open.
T550 12" Kick also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
