T550 12" Kick on Roland Octapad SPD-30

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Kick when used with the Roland Octapad SPD-30.

Setup — T550 12" Kick on Roland Octapad SPD-30

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Kick works as a full kick on the Roland Octapad SPD-30: single zone.

Trigger

Wiring: 1× TS or TRS → an EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack with a KD Pad Type — single-zone

Single-zone kick trigger. Connect the Lemon kick pad to any free EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack and choose a KD-series Pad Type. The manual's 1/KICK jack is the obvious choice, but any of the four inputs works.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TS or TRS cable from the Lemon kick pad to a free EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack (1/KICK is the natural choice).

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU] > PAD > EXTERNAL to open the "PAD SETTING-EXTERNAL" screen.
  2. Hit the kick (or step on it) to select its input.
  3. Turn [Knob 1] (SEL) to select "Pad Type", then turn [Knob 3] (–/+) to set a KD profile such as KD-7 or KD-8.
  4. Turn [Knob 1] (SEL) to "Mask Time" and raise it with [Knob 3] (–/+) to stop double-triggering from beater rebound.

Tips

  1. A TS cable is sufficient — the kick input is single-zone.
  2. Raise Mask Time if a single kick produces a double sound.
T550 12" Kick also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
