T550 12" Kick on ATV aD5

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 12" Kick when used with the ATV aD5.

Setup — T550 12" Kick on ATV aD5

Works

Yes — the T550 12" Kick works as a full kick on the ATV aD5: single zone.

Trigger

Wiring: 1× TS or TRS → the "K" plug on the aD5's multi-trigger cable

Single-zone kick trigger. Only the head zone is active.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TS or TRS cable from the kick pad to the plug labelled "K" on the aD5's multi-trigger cable.

Module settings

  1. In the home screen open the menu, select the [SYSTEM] tab and press [TRIGGER] (p.32).
  2. The aD5 sets a pad up by manufacturer and model, and ATV's Pad Compatibility List covers ATV, Yamaha, Roland, ddrum and 2BOX — so pick the closest listed pad (p.32).
  3. Either set [Pad Brand] and [Model] on the MODEL page and press [OK] (p.32), or run [Trigger Setup Wizard], which asks for the same brand and model and then has you play your own softest and strongest strokes on the kick (pp.33–34). The wizard is the better route here, because it measures the pad you actually have.
  4. On the ADJUST page set Sensitivity so the shot meter reads ff on your hardest stroke, and Curve so a medium stroke reads mf (p.36).
  5. On the FINE ADJUST page raise Threshold if the kick fires from pedal-board or floor vibration (p.37).

Tips

  1. Single-zone operation — only the head zone is active.
  2. A TS cable is sufficient for single-zone kick pads; TRS also works (ring is unused).
T550 12" Kick also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
