T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Simmons SD1200

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum when used with the Simmons SD1200.

Setup — T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Simmons SD1200

Works

Yes — the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum works as a full snare on the Simmons SD1200: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → the SNARE lead of the multi-pin cable harness

The snare input is dual-zone (head + rim): the module's note chart gives SNARE and SNARE RIM SHOT separate MIDI notes.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE lead of the multi-pin cable harness — the leads are marked with the pad each one goes to. The harness ends in a multi-pin connector that plugs into the DB25 Serial Connection Jack on the bottom of the module; apart from the right-side-panel Crash 2 and Tom 4 jacks, every pad reaches the SD1200 through the harness.

Module settings

  1. Go to Utility > Trigger and select the Snare pad, then adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, and Crosstalk.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T950 13"x5" Snare Drum also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
