T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Roland TD-17

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum when used with the Roland TD-17.

Setup — T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Roland TD-17

Works

Yes — the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum works as a full snare on the Roland TD-17: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → the “SNR” lead on the dedicated connection cable

Dual-zone triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently over the single TRS connection, so head shots and rim shots play separate sounds.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the snare pad to the lead labeled “SNR” on the included dedicated connection cable. Its other end is a single screw-down connector that goes into the module's TRIGGER INPUT connector on the bottom — “insert the connector all the way, then turn the knobs to fasten it securely” (TD-17KVX Setup Guide §04).

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], turn the dial to select "Pad Settings", then press [ENTER].
  2. Press [F1] (TYPE), then strike the snare to select the SNARE input.
  3. Turn the dial to set Pad Type to PD128 or PD105.
  4. Press [F2] (BASIC), select "Sensitivity", and turn the dial to adjust it.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T950 13"x5" Snare Drum also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
