T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Donner DED-300X

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum when used with the Donner DED-300X.

Setup — T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Donner DED-300X

Works

Yes — the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum works as a full snare on the Donner DED-300X: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNARE lead on the signal-connection harness

The DED-300X snare channel is dual-zone — head and rim trigger as separate MIDI notes, and a rimshot articulation is available via the XSTICK ADJ setting (MENU > AMBIENCE). Pads connect through a labeled multi-pin harness that plugs into the module's parallel-port connector.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNARE lead on the module's supplied signal-connection harness. The harness ends in a multi-pin parallel-port (Centronics) plug that connects to the module — the DED-300X has no individual per-pad rear-panel jacks; only the TOM4 and CRASH2 expansion inputs are discrete 1/4" jacks.

Module settings

  1. MENU > SENSITIVITY > select SN (the snare) > set SEN (drum sensitivity, 01-06), THREH. (trigger threshold, 01-32), XTALK (crosstalk threshold, 01-32), RETR. (repeat trigger, 01-32), and VOL (volume, 00-127).
  2. MENU > AMBIENCE > XSTICK ADJ tunes the snare rimshot trigger sensitivity.
  3. Press SAVE to store the settings to the current PRESET.

Tips

  1. Snare MIDI notes: head = 38, rim/sidestick = 37, rimshot = 40.
  2. MENU > MIDI NOTE lets you remap any zone's MIDI value if you use external software.
T950 13"x5" Snare Drum also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
