T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Roland TD-4

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum when used with the Roland TD-4.

Setup — T950 13"x5" Snare Drum on Roland TD-4

Works

Yes — the T950 13"x5" Snare Drum works as a full snare on the Roland TD-4: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS → SNR connector on the trigger input cable

Dual-zone snare triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. The TD-4 reads both head piezo and rim switch/piezo signals on the SNR input.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the snare pad to the SNR connector on the trigger input cable.

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU], choose "8 PAD SETTINGS" with the SEL buttons, and press [OK].
  2. Strike the snare to select its input (or turn the [-/+] dial at the MENU screen to pick it).
  3. Use the SEL buttons to select "Pad Type", then set it with the [-/+] dial to PD-105, PD-85, or PDX-8 to match your snare.
  4. If soft or hard hits don't register cleanly, adjust "Sensitivity" (1-32) in PAD SETTINGS, and "Threshold" under Advanced Edit.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
  3. Set Head/Rim Link to OFF in the OPTIONS menu if you want to edit head and rim parameters independently.
T950 13"x5" Snare Drum also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
