14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Donner DED-400

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Donner DED-400.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Donner DED-400

Use as switch hi-hat

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Donner DED-400 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad → HI-HAT lead, with the pedal on its own separate lead of the signal-connection harness (the panel distinguishes HI-HAT from HH-CTRL, p.9)

Switch-type hi-hat — the manual documents three discrete states (p.10), not continuous pedal travel.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT lead on the module's signal-connection harness; the pedal runs on its own separate lead (p.9).
  2. Note: HH-CTRL on the DED-400 is a top-panel button, not a jack — don't look for it as a connector.

Module settings

  1. Press the MENU button, use +/- to select 2-PAD SET, and press OK to enter the pad parameter interface.
  2. Tap the hi-hat pad to select it, then press + / - to choose a parameter and turn the encoder to set the value (press OK to confirm).
  3. Set Pad Sen (surface sensitivity, 1-6), HH.L (stomp cymbal sensitivity, 1-3), HH.S (stomp cymbal speed, 1-3), Threshold (trigger threshold, 1-32), and Volume (0-127).
  4. Press SAVE to store the settings.

Tips

  1. HH.L (stomp cymbal sensitivity) and HH.S (stomp cymbal speed) tune the pedal response (p.11).
14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
