14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on GEWA G9

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the GEWA G9.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on GEWA G9

Works

Yes — the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works as a full hi-hat on the GEWA G9: variable pedal position.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad → HI-HAT input + 1× TRS pedal → HHCTRL input (1/4" TRS jacks)

GEWA supports third-party hi-hat pads via its trigger presets, and the panel has a dedicated 1/4" TRS hi-hat-control jack (HHCTRL) that the Lemon bottom-plate controller plugs straight into. A Hi-Hat Calibration wizard ([Calibrate...], p.94) sets the Low/High pedal positions for open, closed and half-open response.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the hi-hat pad to the HI-HAT input.
  2. Connect the pedal controller to the HHCTRL jack.

Module settings

  1. Tap the [Advanced] button and open Trigger Settings mode.
  2. In the Input Channels list, select the Hi-Hat input channel, then tap the Hi-Hat Pedal icon in module 2.
  3. In the Trigger Settings function set (Module 3), set the pedal response with the Low Position, High Position, Chick Sensitivity and Splash Sensitivity parameters.
  4. To set Low/High Position automatically, tap the [Calibrate...] field and follow the Hi-Hat Calibration wizard.

Tips

  1. Run the Hi-Hat Calibration wizard ([Calibrate...]) after wiring so the module learns the controller's open and closed end-points.
  2. After calibration, verify the half-open transition point and adjust the position values to taste.
14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals also fits 69 other drum modules — see setup
