Wiring: 1× TRS pad → a TRIGGER IN jack (HEAD&RIM) + 1× TS or TRS (controller) → HH CTRL/EXPRESSION jack
Hi-hat control. The hi-hat pad connects to a TRIGGER IN jack (HEAD&RIM for bow + edge) and the Lemon hi-hat controller connects to the dedicated HH CTRL/EXPRESSION jack, switching the pad between its open and closed hi-hat layers at a settable border position. Supports VH-11/VH-10 and FD-8/FD-9 pedal profiles.
Hi-hat setup and troubleshooting guide ›Cable routing
- Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon hi-hat pad to a free TRIGGER IN jack (1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8).
- Connect a 1/4" mono (TS) or stereo (TRS) cable from the Lemon hi-hat controller to the HH CTRL/EXPRESSION jack on the rear panel.
Module settings
- Press [MENU] > SYSTEM > PAD/TRIG IN, then [F2] (HI-HAT), and set Pedal Mode to HH-CTRL.
- In PAD EDIT ([MENU] > KIT EDIT1), set the hi-hat pad's Layer Type to HI-HAT and assign Layer A to the closed hi-hat sound and Layer B to the open hi-hat sound, then set the Hi-Hat Open/Close Border to the pedal position where the open and closed sounds switch.
- On [F1] (PARAM), set the pad trigger's Input Mode to HEAD&RIM and Trig Type to a hi-hat profile such as VH-11.
Tips
- The HH CTRL/EXPRESSION jack is shared with expression — it can't do hi-hat and expression control at the same time.
- The pedal switches between the open and closed hi-hat layers at the border you set. The module may show "Adjust the offset with the offset adjustment screw." — a Lemon hi-hat has none; set the resting gap with the clutch instead.
