14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis DM10 MKII

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Alesis DM10 MKII.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis DM10 MKII

Reduced — switch (open/closed)

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on your Alesis DM10 MKII with reduced zones.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat input + 1× TRS (pedal) → Hi-Hat Control input

Same hi-hat input architecture as the original DM10. Alesis specifies a switch-style footpedal and does not document Roland VH/FD compatibility — treat as open/closed.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat input on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pedal controller to the Hi-Hat Control input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Go to Ext. Trig Menu. Select the Hi-Hat input.
  2. Set Piezo/Switch type as appropriate.
  3. Adjust Sensitivity and Threshold for the pad.

Tips

  1. The Hi-Hat Control input is a separate dedicated jack — do not confuse it with the Hi-Hat pad input.
  2. Test the full pedal sweep to confirm smooth open-to-closed transitions.
