Setup details by role
Snare pad 2-zone SNARE lead on the signal-connection harness → snare pad
The DED-400 snare channel is dual-zone — the module supports "double trigger, with side response", so the head and the drum edge (rim) trigger separately, and a side-strike/cross-stick is produced with the SNARE + RIM combination. Pads connect through the signal-connection harness, which ends in a multi-pin parallel-port plug on the module's TRIGGER INPUT port.
Tom pad 1-zone TOM1/TOM2/TOM3 leads on the signal-connection harness → one per tom pad; Tom 4: 1× TRS → the discrete TOM4 expansion jack
The DED-400 tom inputs are single-zone. Only the head zone will trigger; rim hits will not produce a separate sound.
Kick pad Works KICK lead on the signal-connection harness → kick pad
Single-zone kick trigger. Only the head zone is active.
2-zone crash 2-zone CRASH1 lead on the signal-connection harness → cymbal, or 1× TRS → the discrete CRASH2 expansion jack
Dual-zone cymbal triggering supported on the Crash inputs.
3-zone ride 2-zone RIDE lead on the signal-connection harness → Ride 1 (bow/edge)
Plug the Ride input into the Lemon ride's Ride 1 output for bow + edge — no cymbal modification. The DED-400 has no ride-bell voice, so bow + edge is the full 2-zone ride it can drive.
Hi-hat Open/Closed The hi-hat lead of the signal-connection harness → hi-hat pad, with the controller on its own separate lead — the assembly figure wires the hi-hat and the hi-hat pedal as two separate items
Switch-type hi-hat — the manual documents three discrete states (p.10), not continuous pedal travel.
