Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Simmons SD1250.

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on the Simmons SD1250 as a switch hi-hat: open/closed only.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS pad + 1× TRS (controller) → the HH and HH PEDAL leads of the multi-pin cable harness

The Lemon hi-hat pad and controller connect through the multi-pin cable harness and deliver open and closed hi-hat.

Connect the hi-hat pad to the HH lead of the multi-pin cable harness and the hi-hat controller to the HH PEDAL lead.

With your foot off the pedal, set the resting gap at the clutch: loosen the clutch, raise the top cymbal on the controller until the released sound is as open as it gets, then tighten it — the clutch is the only control.
Press the pedal to confirm it still reaches the closed sound; if it doesn't, lower the cymbal slightly and set the gap again.
In Utility mode, press the Function button under Trigger on the Main Utility screen (Utility → Trigger F1).
Select the Hi-Hat pad via Follow Trigger (strike it) or Current Trigger, then set Sensitivity (1-32), Threshold, Crosstalk, Retrigger, and Curve (Easy / Fixed / Normal / Dynamic).

Set the resting gap at the clutch before judging the hi-hat — with the cymbal sitting too low on the controller, the released position can sound half-open rather than fully open.
