14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Surge

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals when used with the Alesis Surge.

Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Surge

Reduced — switch (open/closed)

The 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works on your Alesis Surge with reduced zones.

Continuous Open Closed

Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → Hi-Hat connector on the cable snake + 1× TRS (pedal) → HH Pedal connector on the cable snake

Same Nitro-family hi-hat platform as the Nitro/Surge pair. Pedal input is not documented as Roland VH/FD compatible — treat as open/closed.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pad to the Hi-Hat connector on the cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the hi-hat pedal controller to the HH Pedal connector on the cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Go to Utility → use Page/Select to navigate to the Hi-Hat input.
  2. Adjust SEN (Sensitivity), THR (Threshold), and S-S (Splash Sensitivity).

Tips

  1. No pedal curve options are available — the module uses a fixed pedal response.
  2. S-S (Splash Sensitivity) controls how easily splash sounds are triggered.
  3. Open/closed transitions may feel less nuanced than modules with pedal curve tuning.
