14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Strata Core
Setup — 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals on Alesis Strata Core
WorksYes — the 14" 2-Piece Electronic Hi-Hat Cymbals works as a full hi-hat on the Alesis Strata Core: variable pedal position.
Continuous
Open
Closed
Wiring: 1× TRS (pad) → HH on the cable snake + 1× TRS (controller)
Variable hi-hat is supported — the controller mounts under the cymbal and tracks pedal position continuously, so open, half-open, closed, chick, and splash articulations all play. Calibrate with HH Setup; fine-tune with Pedal Bottom and Pedal Top.
Cable routing
- Connect the hi-hat pad's 1/4" TRS lead to the HH trigger on the cable snake.
- Mount the hi-hat controller under the cymbal on the stand and connect it with a ¼″ TRS cable. The manual documents the controller's mounting and calibration but never says which connection it takes, so follow the labelling on your own snake.
Module settings
- Press the Kit button, then tap Trigger to open Trigger Mode, and tap HH Setup at the top right.
- Loosen the clutch so the cymbal rests down on the controller and tap SET; then, without pushing down on the pedal, raise the cymbal to your open height, tighten the clutch, and press FINISH.
- Open Tweaks for the HH slot to set Bow Sensitivity, Edge Sensitivity, and Threshold.
Tips
- Fine-tune the open-to-closed transition with Pedal Bottom (100–2048) in Advanced — this sets where chick and splash sounds start.
- Pedal Top (2048–4095) sets where the fully open sound plays; adjust Chick Gain, Splash Sensitivity, and Splash Gain for pedal feel.
- Don't set the cymbal too high above the controller — a large gap hurts position tracking.
