9" Dual-Zone Splash on Simmons SD2000

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 9" Dual-Zone Splash when used with the Simmons SD2000.

Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Simmons SD2000

Works

Yes — the 9" Dual-Zone Splash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Simmons SD2000: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 lead on the pad harness, or the discrete CRASH2 side-panel jack

Dual-zone cymbal triggering supported on Crash1 and Crash2 inputs.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the cymbal to the CRASH1 lead on the module's multi-pin pad harness using a standard 1/4" TRS cable, or to the discrete CRASH2 dual-zone 1/4" TRS jack on the module's side panel.
  2. The SD2000's main pads all route through the supplied pad harness (multi-pin connector into the Serial Connection Jack on the bottom); only the side-panel TOM4 and CRASH2 inputs are individual 1/4" TRS jacks.

Module settings

  1. Press [Utility], then the Function soft-key under "Trigger" on the Main Utility screen.
  2. Select the Crash input (Follow Trigger — strike it — or Current Trigger).
  3. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, Crosstalk, Splash Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Both Crash1 and Crash2 support dual-zone bow and edge triggering.
  2. Choke detection is available.
9" Dual-Zone Splash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
