9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-30

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 9" Dual-Zone Splash when used with the Roland TD-30.

Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-30

Works

Yes — the 9" Dual-Zone Splash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-30: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-30 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [TRIGGER] button.
  2. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER BANK screen.
  3. Select the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input (strike the pad or use the TRIG SELECT buttons).
  4. Use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to set the trigger type to CY-14C or CY-12C.
  5. For finer control, press [F2] (SENS) and adjust Sensitivity on the TRIGGER SENSITIVITY screen.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
9" Dual-Zone Splash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
