9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-12

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 9" Dual-Zone Splash when used with the Roland TD-12.

Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-12

Works

Yes — the 9" Dual-Zone Splash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-12: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-12 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [TRIGGER], then [F1 (BANK)].
  2. Strike the cymbal to select its input (the cursor moves to the struck pad).
  3. Use [+/-] or [VALUE] to set the "Trigger Type" to CY8 or CY14C to match your cymbal.
  4. Press [F2 (BASIC)] to fine-tune "Sensitivity" (1-32) and "Threshold" (0-31).

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
9" Dual-Zone Splash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
