9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-15

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 9" Dual-Zone Splash when used with the Roland TD-15.

Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-15

Works

Yes — the 9" Dual-Zone Splash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-15: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: CRASH1 connector on the DB-25 cable snake → cymbal, or 1× TRS → the TRIGGER IN CRASH2 / AUX jack on the side panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently over the one lead. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-15 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Plug the CRASH1 connector on the DB-25 cable snake into the cymbal.
  2. For additional cymbals, connect a ¼″ TRS cable to the TRIGGER IN CRASH2 or AUX jack on the side panel (p. 8) — stereo 1/4-inch phone type, two of them on the TD-15 (p. 50).

Module settings

  1. In the DRUM KIT screen, press [MENU], scroll to the SYSTEM icon, press [F3] (SYSTEM), select "Pad Settings", then press [F3] (ENTER).
  2. Press [F1] (TYPE), then strike the cymbal to select its input.
  3. Turn the value dial to set Pad Type to CY-12C or CY-14C.
  4. Press [F2] (BASIC) and set Sensitivity and Threshold for the cymbal.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.

  3. CRASH2 and AUX are direct jacks on the rear panel, not part of the cable snake.
9" Dual-Zone Splash also fits 76 other drum modules — see setup
