9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-8

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 9" Dual-Zone Splash when used with the Roland TD-8.

Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-8

Works

The 9" Dual-Zone Splash is fully supported on your Roland TD-8.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-08 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [TRIGGER] > [BANK].
  2. Navigate to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input.
  3. Set the trigger type to CY-12C, CY-12R/C, CY-8, or CY-5 depending on your cymbal size.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
