9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-8
Setup — 9" Dual-Zone Splash on Roland TD-8
WorksYes — the 9" Dual-Zone Splash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-8: bow + edge.
Bow
Edge
Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel
Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-08 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.
Cable routing
- Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.
Module settings
- Press [SETUP], then [F1 (TRIG)] — the "TRIGGER BANK" screen appears.
- Navigate to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input.
- Set the trigger type to PD7 or PD9 — the TD-8's trigger-type list has no dedicated cymbal values; these dual-trigger settings read bow (head) and edge (rim) with choke support on the CRASH inputs.
Tips
- Bow and edge zones respond independently.
- Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
