15" Dual-Zone China on Simmons SD2000

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Dual-Zone China when used with the Simmons SD2000.

Setup — 15" Dual-Zone China on Simmons SD2000

Works

Yes — the 15" Dual-Zone China works as a full 2-zone crash on the Simmons SD2000: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → the CRASH1 lead of the multi-pin cable harness, or the Crash 2 jack on the side panel

Dual-zone cymbal triggering on both crash inputs — the module's note chart gives CRASH1 and CRASH2 each a bow note and a rim note, and the side-panel Crash 2 jack is documented as taking a dual-zone drum or cymbal.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the cymbal with a standard 1/4" TRS cable to the CRASH1 lead of the multi-pin cable harness, or to the Crash 2 TRS jack on the module's side panel.
  2. The harness plugs into the Serial Connection Jack on the bottom of the module; Tom 4 and Crash 2 on the side panel are the only individual trigger jacks.

Module settings

  1. Press [Utility], then the Function soft-key under "Trigger" on the Main Utility screen.
  2. Select the Crash input (Follow Trigger — strike it — or Current Trigger).
  3. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, Crosstalk, Splash Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Both crash inputs read bow and edge.
  2. The manual documents choke on the crash inputs — grabbing the edge of the cymbal stops the sound.
15" Dual-Zone China also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
