20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-30

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland TD-30.

Setup — 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-30

Works

Yes — the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland TD-30: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → Input 10 RIDE + Input 11 EDGE on the rear panel

Full 3-zone ride using separate RIDE and EDGE inputs. 3Way Trigger must be set to ON.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to Input 10 RIDE on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to Input 11 EDGE on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [TRIGGER] button.
  2. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER BANK screen.
  3. Select the RIDE input (trigger input 10) (strike the pad or use the TRIG SELECT buttons).
  4. Use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to set the trigger type to CY-15R (or CY-12R/C).
  5. Press the [F5] (ADVANCE) button to open the TRIGGER ADVANCED screen and set 3Way Trigger to ON.

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bell, bow, edge).
  2. If 3Way Trigger is OFF, the bell zone will not be detected separately.
  3. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
