18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-15

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland TD-15.

Setup — 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-15

Works

Yes — the 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland TD-15: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → RIDE + RIDE BELL connectors on the DB-25 cable snake

Full 3-zone ride with separate RIDE and RIDE BELL inputs via the cable snake.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the RIDE connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to the RIDE BELL connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. In the DRUM KIT screen, press [MENU], scroll to the SYSTEM icon, press [F3] (SYSTEM), select "Pad Settings", then press [F3] (ENTER).
  2. Press [F1] (TYPE), then strike the ride to select its input.
  3. Turn the value dial to set Pad Type to CY-13R or CY-15R.
  4. Press [F2] (BASIC) and set Sensitivity and Threshold for the ride.

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bell, bow, edge).
  2. If only one cable is connected, the ride will function as 2-zone only.
  3. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
