13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-8

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland TD-8.

Setup — 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-8

Reduced — 2-zone ride

The 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works on your Roland TD-8 with reduced zones.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS (Cable 2) → RIDE input on the rear panel — bow + bell

Full 3-zone is not supported — this module has a single Ride input. Connect Cable 2 (bow + bell) from the Lemon 3-zone ride cymbal; bow and bell zones both work through this cable.

Cable routing

  1. Connect Cable 2 (the bow + bell cable) from the Lemon 3-zone ride cymbal to the RIDE input.

Module settings

  1. Press [TRIGGER] > [BANK] and navigate to the RIDE input.
  2. Set the trigger type to a 2-zone cymbal (CY-12C, CY-12R/C, CY-8, or CY-5 depending on size) — the TD-8 has a single Ride input so 3-zone ride pad types are not available here.
  3. Tune Sensitivity, Threshold, and Crosstalk until bow and bell strikes read consistently.
  4. In your kit, load a ride-bow sample on the bow zone and a ride-bell sample on the second zone — bow and bell hits will play through Cable 2 as expected.

Tips

  1. Cable 2 delivers bow and bell — the two most-used zones for ride playing.
  2. Full simultaneous 3-zone operation is not available on this module — only one cable can be connected at a time.
